DRIVER EJECTED AS VEHICLE ROLLS SIX TIMES, BURSTS INTO FLAMES

A driver was lucky to escape with his life after a horrific single-vehicle accident on Sarina-Marlborough Road last night.

The 55-year-old St Lawrence man was ejected when his vehicle rolled six times and burst into blames on a straight stretch of road near Lotus Creek about 5.30pm.

RACQ CQ Rescue, with a doctor and Critical Care Paramedic on board, flew direct to the scene on sunset and landed in a clearing adjacent to the accident scene after firefighters extinguished the fire.

The vehicle was so charred the make and model of the car wasn’t identifiable.

The injured man was treated by paramedics on scene for his serious internal and head injuries and was airlifted to Mackay Base Hospital arriving at 8.20pm.
