DRIVER ESCAPES SERIOUS INJURY AS VEHICLE ROLLS, SLAMS INTO FENCE
April 8, 2020
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RACQ CQ Rescue has airlifted a man to hospital after his vehicle rolled multiple times near Mt Coolon today and slammed into a fence.
The 36-year-old Townsville man was driving along the Bowen Development Road at 100km an hour about 3pm when he lost control of his large green van. After rolling a number of times, the van came to rest on its side against a barbed wire fence beside the road.
The driver was able to free himself from the wreckage of the overturned vehicle and his wife, who was travelling in a vehicle behind him, called emergency services.
RACQ CQ Rescue met ambulance crews at the scene, landing in a grassy clearing beside the road with a doctor and Critical Care Paramedic on board to treat the injured man. He sustained minor head injuries despite the severity of the accident.
The helicopter arrived at Mackay Base Hospital with the patient in a stable condition about 6pm after refuelling in Moranbah.
